THE CHAPEL

The chapel holds unique works of art by sculptor Max Faller, including the Gem Cross, a cross set with gemstones, reminiscent of the Triumphal Cross built by Emperor Constantine in Jerusalem. Here you will experience the oldest and original form of cross design.

The altar is also a special highlight. It tells a fascinating story, with its pedestal symbolising the New Jerusalem and the burial chapel in Jerusalem, as well as the paschal lamb, which is turned towards the visitors on high feast days. The altar symbolises the Old and New Testaments.

The tabernacle is also of great symbolism. It depicts the Holy Sepulchre Chapel in Jerusalem and stands on a stone taken from the Marian Column of Munich's Marienplatz, which was destroyed during World War II. Visit the chapel at Schloss Lautrach and experience the fascinating history and beauty of Christian art.
