Kronburg Castle
Kronburg Castle is one of the most magnificent Renaissance castles in Bavaria and sits enthroned majestically on an ice-age moraine hill 752 meters above the Illerwinkel. It has belonged to the von Vequel-Westernach family for more than 400 years and has an almost 300-year-old original interior design.
The castle was built as a military base as early as the 12th century and has changed hands several times over the centuries. Today the castle impresses with a breathtaking view of the entire chain of the Alps and is surrounded by forest, stretches of river and ponds. Visit the towers and the Knights' Hall and experience the fascinating history of the Kronburg up close.
Visitors can take part in paid group tours (from 15 people) and experience pure history. The baron personally accompanies you on these tours through space and time. A special highlight is the romantic Christmas market at Kronburg Castle.
