The Rot an der Rot monastery is a former Premonstratensian abbey that is closely linked to the history of the town of Rot an der Rot in southern Germany. The monastery was built in the 13th century. Founded in the 19th century and is today part of the Upper Swabian Baroque Route. It housed monks and nuns and was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint John.

The church of St. Verena is the monastery church of the former monastery Rot an der Rot. It was built in the second half of the 12th century. Built in the Romanesque style in the 18th century and rebuilt in the rococo style in the 18th century. The church houses numerous works of art, including a famous altarpiece by Franz Anton Maulbertsch. The monastery church and the monastery courtyard with its historic buildings, including the former monks' house and the abbot's house, are particularly worth seeing. The baroque monastery garden with its colorful flower beds and the old linden tree also invites you to linger.

In the course of its history, the monastery had to struggle with crises, but thanks to the commitment of its abbots, it was always able to be rebuilt. Today, the monastery is a popular tourist destination in the region.
